A Case of Nursing Home Abuse
Jan 27th
In Fair Oaks, CA a relative of a nursing home resident installed a hidden camera near his grandmother’s bed during a normal visit. This relative was looking for a new nursing home for his grandmother because of complaints from his grandmother that she was being abused. Unfortunately his grandmother did not get a chance to transfer because by the time the relative returned, his grandmother was dead.
The nursing home told the relative his grandmother died of a natural death. Suspicious of them the relative secretly retrieved the hidden camera and viewed the footage. He was shocked. He saw his grandmother being dumped off her wheel chair by a nursing home nurse. The nurse just walked away and left her there. Another instant his grandmother was crying and no one came by to console her. It was truly devastating.
The autopsy revealed bumps and bruises on his grandmother. The nursing home declined to comment. Most nursing homes Charlotte NC are not like this. But you never really know. What can look good on the outside may be dead and rotting on the inside.
Used Handicap Ramps Are a Great Idea for Temporary Injuries
Dec 4th
If a family member has sustained injury such that it inhibits free movement, then he or she will need to use a wheelchair. As such, buying a brand new ramp for aiding the person on a wheelchair to enter at the back is not going to be a prudent investment. Instead, picking from used handicap ramps is a smarter option. Why, you ask? Well, the reason being that the sustained injury being temporary by nature will heal in a period of time. Now, once the person can back on his her feet, the money spent on the new ramp too looks like a waste.
On the other hand, used ramps do not cost much. Also, because they need only serve for the time period in which the person is injured, you can always buy a ramp that has not been used so much by the previous owner. This makes for better investment while ensuring that you do not compromise on the quality and make of the ramp purchased.
Finding the Right Nursing Home
Jun 15th
When I had to make the choice to put my own mother in a nursing home, at first, I felt like the worst daughter ever. However, after speaking with my mom about it, I found out that she understood and she was actually okay with going to a nursing home, as long as we could find one that she was going to enjoy. I knew that I was going to want to find her something relatively close by, so I began looking into different California nursing homes, hoping to be able to find one that she was going to enjoy and where she would be treated right. Eventually, after doing a lot of searching, I came across the website http://www.avalonhci.com/california.html where they had some really good information about a nursing home in her area. We ended up going in for a tour and she really liked it there, and she’s been happy there for months now.
Protect Yourself from Financial Devastation with over 65 Travel Insurance
Jun 6th
Over 65 travel insurance is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Senior citizens who are planning to use their retirement as a time to fulfill their travel dreams absolutely must make sure they have adequate travel insurance. Most health insurance policies do not cover expenses for medical care and treatment when policyholders are on vacation. This means that should any emergency occur anything from food poisoning to a serious fall a senior citizen will have to pay for their medical treatment themselves. Needless to say, medical care and treatment is very expensive. Just one visit to an emergency room for dehydration can cost around $1,000.00. This huge cost can put a huge financial strain on a senior citizen who travels without over 65 travel insurance. The cost for more serious injuries or illnesses would be devastating. Over 65 travel insurance is a small price to pay for protection from potential serious financial devastation.
